Faces from Colorado

Canon 30d
Shutter 1/125
Aperture f/4.5
ISO 100
Natural Light

I've spent a week or so in Colorado for the Thanksgiving holiday and here are 2 of my favorite people in the world: my brother Matt and my nephew Josh. I have so much to be thankful for and this is a good representation of it. I spent the day skiing and laughing more than I've laughed in a while.

For this shot, I was immediately struck by the cool reflection. It's funny, I skied all day with my camera strapped to my back and the shot I'm using could have been done without wearing skis at all.

I really want to tell you all more but frankly, I'm exhausted and I have an unbelievable journey ahead of me. More on the later I'm sure. Happy Thanksgiving everyone and kudos to B for the awesome banner.

  1. First of all, Does this mean fall is officially over?
Second, Is that the kid that eat the GINORMOUS Hippo burger?
Thirdly, Totally RAD shot DUDE! DUDE, you are the DUDE!
I love we can see the ski hill so well in the reflection, yet the the back ground is quiet and blurry. The goggles are really a piece of art. How perfect is that color snow/ski suit?
I love the fun attitude and playful feel. Fun, fun, fun.
    BRAVO !

  2. Why is it that the best shot is the first shot? It's always the one that just naturally works.
Great job Scott. The glasses frame everything perfectly. Makes me want to go ski except, well... I don't ski.

  4. Hey everyone! @J - yes that's the same kid. Don't know if fall is over but it felt like it that day. Not too cold but definitely snowy. Thanks for the compliments. It was a great time.

@B - it never fails. So often the first shot is the best. The good news is that I didn't take too many more simply because it was difficult with my gloves on and all the snow. My camera always felt too exposed to the elements!

@S - definitely go skiing. It's so much fun and it can be very peaceful and cleansing. I spent most of my day far away from the crowds amongst the trees. Just plain awesome.
